We're Starting A Conversation

Hey, everybody,

If you’re like us, then your life has changed drastically. Sports events have been cancelled. Music, art, and tech festivals have been postponed. Restaurants are closing and everyone who can is working from home.

So now you’re faced with this opportunity to connect with the people you live with in a new way. Doesn’t seem too hard, right? Well, that’s what we thought. Then, after a few days, we started to appreciate our old routines and recognize our own lack of creativity. Being together all day, every day is a bit of a lost art. It’s something most of us haven’t really done in generations.

What do we do? We help each other.

We’ve been scouring the internet for tips and tricks on different aspects of dealing with social distancing and sheltering in place. Over the next several weeks, we’re going to share some of what we found on our blog and on our social media feeds, but we need your help, too.

We’re thinking of parents who homeschool, who can help us keep our kids learning and on track while their schools are closed. We’re thinking of home chefs that know how to stretch a dollar and still put together a meal plan that everyone will love. We need you, fitness experts, to chime in with ways to stay active while we’re at home and away from the gym. We’re looking at you herbalists, gardeners, and survivalists. We need help from you teachers, counselors, and therapists, too.

Each of you is a GooRu at something.

Let’s band together and share our superpowers like we used to. It will be the little things we do over the following weeks and months that will make all the difference. So, what’s your best advice? What’s that extra thing that you do that makes the difference and brings a touch more joy to your homestead? We’re going to share ours. We can’t wait to hear yours.

What games do you play? What are your favorite recipes? How do we stretch our resources so we can minimize physical contact with our community and beat this pandemic? What if you need to quarantine someone inside your home?

And more. Need someone to talk to? Let’s make a place. What about book recommendations, music playlists, and great shows to binge? How about home craft projects you can do with things you probably already have around? We’re going to need every comfort we can muster, because it’s likely things are going to get a bit worse before they get better.

This moment can make each of us feel alone. We are not alone. We understand if you’re afraid. We’re scared, too. What a gift it is to be able to reach out and build a community digitally. Let’s help each other. We can do this—together.

In the meantime, keep washing your hands.

Leave a little TP on the shelf for the next family. Practice patience, grace, and kindness. Those may be our most important resources soon. We’re all in this together. Stay safe out there. The world needs you. We need you. Stay tuned as we continue this conversation. Let’s spread some goodness.

I’m offering to help with all my abilities. Art, crafts, crocheting and cooking are just a few things I thought of. Let me know what I can do to help

Today we walked the dogs, planted seeds and now we are building a fort out of boxes! Suggestion for a family movie recommendation? Be well friends!
